Lisa
Martin began working as a full
time pottery artist after she
graduated from the three year
diploma program at Kootenay
School of the Arts in Nelson,
BC. Lisa works from her pottery
studio at home and creates
mostly functional and vibrantly
glazed wheel thrown porcelain
pottery sculptural vessels. Lisa
continued her clay education by
taking a course at the Metchosin
International Summer School of
Arts and learned the techniques
to creating clay wall murals.
These murals are finished and
coloured by using a primitive
smoke fired method where they
burn and smoke in a pit for
around 5 days, there is no glaze
added to them. These creative
processes result in unique,
one-of-a-kind wall art.
