Hidden away in a quiet corner of Castlegar's Doukhobor Discovery Centre (across from the Castlegar Airport) is a treasure trove of textile history and creativity. Members of the Selkirk Weavers & Spinners Guild, which was founded in 1972, are on hand during the summer months to demonstrate and share the various techniques of making fabric - from preparing and spinning fibres to setting up a loom and weaving cloth. A small loom is available for visitors of all ages to have a guided hands-on weaving experience. One-of-a-kind creations made by Guild members are displayed for show and sale. The quality and variety of items are a testament to the weavers' adventurous explorations into colour and technique.
