This
distinctive museum will
introduce you to Doukhobor
lifestyle as it evolved in the
Kootenay region of British
Columbia from 1908 to 1938. Over
1,000 artifacts represent the
arts and crafts, customs and
religion of the people. This
unique museum is nestled in a
beautiful historic setting on
the banks of the Columbia River
on traditional Doukhobor orchard
land. Here, you can stroll
through the spacious grounds
under the benign gaze of Lev
Tolstoy, Doukhobor benefactor
and admire the heritage plants.
Books, craft items, music and
films are available for purchase
in the Village Art Gallery/Craft
Center, which also features art
displays. Our Audio Visual
Gallery features continuous film
documentaries, a photo archive
and new exhibits yearly. There
are ten buildings and ten acres
for your museum viewing
pleasure.
