Creating art is a necessity. It is done with a sort of urgency of being, like needing exercise or eating. There is a magic that happens in the creative process and in the simple act of painting for me. In this act I allow myself to be, to look, to study, to enjoy, to dream and to go beyond the parameters of daily life. It is quite simply; freeing. I continuously strive to challenge myself with new ideas, new techniques, pushing myself to loosen my brushstroke and see things in ways I might not otherwise. Sherri Soukoroff has been creating art in various forms for 25 years- the last ten have been focused upon oil painting. Primarily a self-taught working artist, she also attended 2 years of Emily Carr College.
